MIDWIFEPLUS PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS AND PLATFORM CONDUCT POLICY

1. Purpose

This Policy sets out the standards of conduct expected from all Midwives using the MidwifePlus Platform.

The purpose of this Policy is to promote professionalism, integrity, safety, and trust within the Platform community.

Nothing in this Policy shall be interpreted as creating a supervisory, managerial, or clinical governance relationship between MidwifePlus and any Midwife.

Midwives remain solely responsible for their own professional practice, clinical decision-making, and regulatory obligations.

2. Scope

This Policy applies to:

  • All Midwives registered on the MidwifePlus Platform.
  • Communications made through or arising from the Platform.
  • Information published on Midwife profiles.
  • Interactions with clients obtained through the Platform.

3. Professional Responsibilities

Midwives using the Platform are expected to:

  • Maintain active NMC registration.
  • Practise within the scope of their competence.
  • Maintain appropriate professional indemnity insurance.
  • Act honestly, professionally, and respectfully.
  • Comply with all applicable laws and professional requirements.
  • Keep professional information accurate and up to date.
  • Respect client dignity, privacy, and confidentiality.

4. Profile Standards

Midwives must ensure that profile information is:

  • Accurate.
  • Truthful.
  • Current.
  • Not misleading.

Midwives must not:

  • Exaggerate qualifications or experience.
  • Claim specialisms they are not qualified to provide.
  • Misrepresent registration status.
  • Use false testimonials or reviews.

MidwifePlus may request supporting evidence where reasonably required.

5. Communication Standards

Midwives must communicate with clients in a professional and respectful manner.

The following conduct is prohibited:

  • Harassment.
  • Bullying.
  • Discrimination.
  • Threatening behaviour.
  • Offensive language.
  • Unwanted marketing communications.
  • Misleading statements.

6. Confidentiality and Privacy

Midwives must:

  • Protect client confidentiality.
  • Comply with UK GDPR and applicable privacy laws.
  • Use client information only for legitimate professional purposes.
  • Store and manage information securely.

Client information obtained through the Platform must not be shared, sold, or disclosed without lawful authority.

7. Platform Integrity

Midwives must not:

  • Share purchased leads with third parties.
  • Circumvent Platform security measures.
  • Use another person’s account.
  • Attempt to manipulate reviews or ratings.
  • Submit false feedback.
  • Interfere with the operation of the Platform.

8. Professional Reputation

Midwives must not engage in conduct that could reasonably be expected to:

  • Damage the reputation of MidwifePlus.
  • Undermine public trust in the Platform.
  • Mislead clients regarding the role of MidwifePlus.

Midwives must not represent themselves as employees, agents, or representatives of MidwifePlus.

9. Regulatory and Legal Compliance

Midwives are responsible for ensuring compliance with:

  • Nursing and Midwifery Council requirements.
  • Data protection legislation.
  • Equality legislation.
  • Safeguarding obligations.
  • Any other laws applicable to their practice.

MidwifePlus does not monitor or supervise compliance but may request evidence of compliance where reasonably necessary.

10. Concerns and Reports

Where information comes to MidwifePlus’ attention suggesting that a Midwife may have breached this Policy, MidwifePlus may:

  • Request information or clarification.
  • Temporarily suspend Platform access.
  • Remove profile content.
  • Restrict account access.
  • Terminate Platform membership.

Any action taken by MidwifePlus relates solely to Platform access and does not constitute a professional, disciplinary, or regulatory finding.

11. Breaches of this Policy

Examples of conduct that may result in suspension or removal include:

  • Providing false information.
  • Misrepresenting qualifications.
  • Breaching confidentiality obligations.
  • Misusing client data.
  • Fraudulent activity.
  • Lead sharing or resale.
  • Abusive or discriminatory behaviour.
  • Conduct likely to damage Platform integrity.

12. Relationship with Professional Regulation

This Policy does not replace or modify any professional obligations imposed by the NMC or other regulatory bodies.

Midwives remain fully accountable for their own professional practice.

13. Policy Review

MidwifePlus may amend this Policy from time to time.

The latest version will be published on the Platform and will take effect immediately upon publication.

By registering with or continuing to use the MidwifePlus Platform, the Midwife confirms that they:

  • Have read and understood this Policy.
  • Agree to comply with its requirements.
  • Understand that MidwifePlus operates solely as a marketplace and introduction platform.
  • Accept responsibility for their own professional practice and conduct.
