Last Updated: June 30, 2026

MIDWIFEPLUS MIDWIFE VERIFICATION POLICY

1. Purpose

MidwifePlus carries out a limited verification process to confirm that midwives using the Platform hold appropriate professional registration and documentation required to offer services independently.

This process is intended to support user trust and Platform integrity. It does not constitute clinical assessment, quality assurance, or approval of professional competence.

2. Our Role

MidwifePlus is a digital marketplace that connects clients with independent midwives.

MidwifePlus does not:

  • Provide healthcare services
  • Assess clinical competence
  • Supervise midwifery practice
  • Approve or endorse clinical decision-making
  • Guarantee service quality or outcomes

Each midwife remains fully responsible for their own professional practice.

3. Verification Requirements

To be listed on MidwifePlus, midwives must provide evidence of:

  • Current Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration
  • Valid professional indemnity insurance
  • Identity verification documentation
  • Relevant professional declarations required by the Platform

Additional documentation may be requested where reasonably necessary for Platform compliance.

4. Ongoing Responsibility

Midwives are responsible for ensuring that all information remains accurate and up to date, including:

  • Registration status
  • Insurance coverage
  • Contact and practice details
  • Professional eligibility to practise

Midwives must notify MidwifePlus immediately of any change to their registration or ability to practise.

5. Verification Limitations

MidwifePlus verification is limited to confirming documentation provided by the midwife.

MidwifePlus does not:

  • Conduct clinical audits
  • Evaluate professional performance
  • Assess competency or skill level
  • Monitor service delivery
  • Review clinical outcomes
  • Validate patient feedback as a measure of clinical quality

Clients remain responsible for choosing an appropriate midwife based on their own judgement.

6. Profile Status

Where verification is successful, a midwife may be marked as “Verified” on the Platform.

This status confirms only that required documentation has been reviewed at the time of verification.

It does not represent:

  • Endorsement
  • Recommendation
  • Clinical approval
  • Quality assurance
  • Guarantee of service outcomes

7. Suspension and Removal

MidwifePlus may suspend or remove a midwife’s profile where:

  • Required documentation is missing or expired
  • Information is found to be inaccurate or misleading
  • Regulatory concerns arise
  • There is a risk to Platform integrity or user safety

Suspension or removal does not constitute a finding of professional wrongdoing.

8. Data Handling

All verification documents are processed in accordance with UK GDPR and MidwifePlus Privacy Policy.

Documentation is used solely for verification and compliance purposes.

9. Policy Updates

MidwifePlus may update this Policy from time to time. The most recent version will always apply.
